This work is part of my 2026 Series, a phase in which painting can be understood as a zoom out of pictorial worlds. Spaces are no longer presented as inhabited scenes, but as fields of resonance: mental territories that retain the vibration of well-known pictorial universes, now observed from a distance. The composition is structured in horizontal strata that evoke different levels of perception, closer to interior spaces than to recognisable landscapes. Within them, one can sense—indirectly—atmospheres associated with the poetic and spiritual abstraction of the twentieth century, without literal reference or narrative intent. The white lines, created through subtraction on the canvas, function as traces or fragile boundaries between planes of consciousness. The staircases, barely suggested, act as symbols of silent passage between states, without direction or explicit destination. Small blocks of colour emerge as remnants of presence or fragments of memory, integrated into an atmosphere of deep tones and restrained melancholy. The work does not seek to represent, but rather to offer a space for contemplation, where emotion, symbol and silence coexist in balance. About the artist Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami (USA) until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona (Spain), where he took part in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017 he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has also collaborated with the MACBA. His work combines poetic surrealism, abstraction and symbolic language. Recurring elements such as staircases, portals, celestial forms and minimal architectural traces appear as metaphors for consciousness, memory and transcendence.
