A Japanese porcelain set with a dragon motif. The majority of this set consists of wedding tableware, exceptionally beautiful, delicate, thin-walled porcelain – in perfect condition – and cups made of eggshell-thin porcelain, covered with colorful enamels and solid gold leaf in the tradition of the famous, sought-after collectible art of porcelain decoration. Each piece depicts a young girl surrounded by two older gentlemen. The most popular version depicts the goddess Okame (Okami) – a figure revered as the "goddess of manifold happiness." She particularly protects young couples and pregnant women, but also helps in many other life situations. She is depicted as a person with a white face narrowing at the temples, with puffed cheeks, narrow eyes, and a small mouth. Images of Okame are sold as good luck charms. Okame is assisted by two judges who act as our little devil and angel, advising the goddess on whether the culprit truly deserves good luck—or perhaps a long-term lack of luck. This set includes pieces from various manufacturers and from various years. A particularly rare item is a yellow cup and another with a very rare lithophana. Both larger plates can be hung; one has original holes made for this purpose, while the other has a very old hanging hook, which I didn't want to remove to avoid damaging the plate.
