Silver finger ring comprising a D-section hoop and sharp shoulders with central bezel inscribed with the letters ‘LEG VI VICTRIX’ in capitals: "Victorious Sixth Legion". Exquisite.
Legio VI Victrix was a legion of the Imperial Roman army founded in 41 B.C. by the general Octavian (who, as Augustus, later became Rome's first emperor). It was the twin legion of VI Ferrata (Sixth Ironclad Legion). The legion saw action in Perusia in 41 B.C. , served against Sextus Pompeius and in 31 B.C. and fought in the Battle of Actium against Mark Antony. The legion also fought in Spain, Germany and Britain, where it stationed from 119 A.D. until the 4th century A.D.

Material: Silver, 8.4 grms
Culture: Roman, c. 1st Century B.C /4th Century A.D.
Condition: Intact. Excellently preserved, but overcleaned (much of patina lost)
