Over his illustrious career, Tamaoki has received numerous accolades, including the Japan Ceramic Society Award in 1980. In 2008, he was designated as a holder of Gifu Prefecture's Important Intangible Cultural Property for Oribe ware, cementing his status as one of the leading contemporary practitioners of Mino ceramics. As the fourth-generation master of Gyokuzan Kiln, he continues the family tradition while bringing fresh interpretations to classic styles including Oribe, Shino, and Ki-Seto.
