Claude Monet (1840-1926), after - Impression (1972)

artist: Claude Monet (14. November 1840 in Paris - 5. Dezember 1926 in Giverny) title: Impression (1972) wonderful collotype-print! embossed with "LD" (LichtDruck= Collotype) on the bottom right by Verlag Bild-Kunst Bonn / Verlag der Kunst Dresden, 1991 motif size: H 46 cm x B 60 cm paper size: H 80 cm x B 68 cm condition: Excellent we will pack secure and ship insured. Collotype was a type of lithographic printing that is around 125 years old and has now been discontinued, in which an almost photographic reproduction was achieved by means of halftone-less wrinkle grain with up to fourteen color printing passes (with special decades-long lightfast colors), which is by far the noblest printing technique and cannot be achieved lightfast even today with the most modern production methods. Due to the time-consuming, manual and therefore cost-intensive work process, the lack of artist or museum commissions and the lack of future prospects for specialized skilled workers, this most faithful of all known printing processes has been considered “extinct” worldwide for two decades and can no longer be produced. This is why these last classic facsimile collotype prints are something special and irretrievable for every lover of historical printing art.
