The material is fired clay, similar to pottery but with a texture closer to raw clay. Judging by his attire, this figure depicts a Japanese military officer from the Meiji era, dating from around 1870 to 1900. There is a mark reading “四十 40.” Is this the manufacturer's name, or does it signify something else? We looked into it, but this remains unclear. Please understand that due to its great age, it shows signs of wear and damage. Old things are beautiful and wonderful. Carefully packaged and shipped from Japan to overseas.
