Axe-shaped amulets were characteristic of Viking culture and were worn as personal protective talismans. The axe was one of the key symbols of the warrior, representing strength, determination, and the protection of one’s kin.
In a sacred context, the axe could be associated with divine protection, including the cult of Thor, where weapons symbolized not only martial power but also cosmic order and defense against chaos. Such amulets were worn by warriors, seafarers, and traders — during journeys, in battle, and in everyday life.
This is not a reproduction, but an authentic ancient artifact. Miniature Viking Age silver axe amulets, especially those originating from old private collections and preserved in archaeological condition, are relatively rare and highly sought after by collectors of ancient antiquities.
