Kokeshi dolls are a traditional Japanese craft. They are very charming items with a distinctly Japanese character. These are known as Naruko Kokeshi. Naruko Kokeshi (Naruko style) are nationally designated traditional crafts with a history of approximately 200 years, originating from the Naruko Onsen area in Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. They are characterized by large heads, well-balanced bodies, and a distinctive inserted-neck structure that produces a “squeaking” sound when the head is turned. Their simple and rustic charm is especially appealing.
