Jingasa(陣笠) used mainly by foot soldiers and other military personnel in camp(陣) since the Muromachi period. It was made of thin copper or leather, coated with lacquer, and used as a substitute for a helmet. This is a rare piece made from willow. The woven willow has been coated with lacquer from above to harden it. The rim is woven with rattan, and the family crest and wave pattern are painted in ink. The strings for wearing it are made of cotton cloth, and the purple thread is also cotton. Condition: It shows signs of aging and has damage in several places.
