He began pottery as a hobby in 1972, but later suspended his work. In 1984, drawn to the art of decorative carving, he resumed pottery making with renewed dedication. In 1986, Hirosawa established his independent kiln, Hongogama, in the historic pottery district. His exceptional skill in intricate openwork carving quickly gained recognition. In 1988, he presented a pierced lattice incense burner to the Association of Shinto Shrines, followed by a dedication to Meiji Shrine in 1989. In 1990, his works were dedicated to Urasenke tea school and Noda Shrine, establishing his reputation in tea ceremony circles. Hirosawa specializes in細工物 (saiku-mono), decorative pieces featuring complex openwork and carved patterns.
