Descrizione: Luigi Tecce's "Poliphemo Vecchie Vigne" is a real bomb, capable of summing up the concept of power and truthfulness. When we talk about Aglianico we are undoubtedly talking about one of the excellences of Italian wine, in what is the triad of the great vines of our peninsula together with Nebbiolo and Sangiovese. The characteristics of Aglianico, however, are different and unique, and in its flagship expressions it gives life to austere, powerful wines driven by a sculpted tannin that remains etched in the memory. One of the jewels of the area is that of Luigi Tecce, a name known to enthusiasts because his bottles are among the most exciting and expressive you can come across. Liquids that defy time, produced with obsessive care and with particular attention to the perfect ripeness of the grapes, a factor unfortunately not considered by some improvised winemakers. Memorable experience. The "Poliphemo Vecchie Vigne" is produced with pure Aglianico grapes, from vines over 80 years old located on calcareous clayey soil. In the vineyard, no chemistry or synthetic substances are used in any way, but only a little copper and sulfur are used. In the cellar it continues with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins for 40 days in open chestnut vats. The liquid ages for 10 months in steel and 24 months in tonneaux and large barrels, before being bottled without filtration or clarification. The "Poliphemo Vecchie Vigne" literally fills the glass with its inky mass, impenetrable. The nose, initially compact and austere, rises slowly as if the earth were speaking and the first suggestion is precisely that linked to the soil. Slowly the liquid opens up into an irresistible fan of plum, bitter cocoa, undergrowth and black pepper.
