Kakejiku 掛け軸(挂轴) - 桑纸,丝绸,铜 - 日本 - 昭和五十五年(1980年)
A Japanese thangka-style hanging scroll 掛け軸 (kakejiku) depicting the Amida Triad 阿弥陀三尊仏 (Amida Sanzonbutsu), rendered with rich pigments and gilded detailing.
Central figure is Amida Buddha (Amitābha), the Buddha of Boundless Light, standing within a mandorla filled with small seated Buddha figures. He is flanked by the two traditional attendant bodhisattvas: Kannon 観音 (Avalokiteśvara) on the right and Seishi 勢至 (Mahāsthāmaprāpta) on the left.
At the base kneel Honda no Yoshimitsu (also known as Zenkō), founder of Zenkō-ji Temple, and his wife. This configuration identifies the painting as a depiction of the Zenkō-ji Nyorai 善光寺如来, a highly venerated image at Zenkō-ji in Nagano.
Executed in colour and ink on paper, highlighted with gold, and mounted within ornate brocade silk borders. Fitted with copper jikusaki.
