The work expresses the quietness of snow and the reflection on the surface of the pond. It conveys the serene and fantastical beauty found in Japanese winter landscapes. --- Artist Profile Masao Ido was born in Manchuria in 1945. In 1960, he moved to Kyoto. He began producing woodblock prints in 1972. In 1973, he was selected for the Japan Print Association Exhibition, the Nichido Print Grand Prix Exhibition, and received the Sankikai New Artist Award with recommendation for membership. In 1983, he participated in the Kyoto Hyakkei Woodblock Print Sannin Exhibition, organized by the Kyoto Shimbun. In the same year, his dyeing and woodblock print exhibition was held, organized by IBC Iwate Broadcasting. In 1990, his solo exhibition was held in Chicago, and he was invited as a special artist to the Graz Art Association Exhibition in Austria. In 1993, a commemorative woodblock print exhibition was held in conjunction with the broadcast of the NHK Taiga drama Ryukyu no Kaze. In 1999, he founded the specified non-profit organization Hanamaki Cultural Village and became chairman of its council. In 2003, he created four original designs for Japan Post’s regional commemorative stamps “Kyoto Events.” In 2004, his works were added to the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 2006, his works were added to the collection of the Library of Congress. In 2007, he appeared on NHK World TV Begin Japanology. Artist Profile

Masao Ido was born in Manchuria in 1945.
In 1960, he moved to Kyoto.
He began producing woodblock prints in 1972.
In 1973, he was selected for the Japan Print Association Exhibition, the Nichido Print Grand Prix Exhibition, and received the Sankikai New Artist Award with recommendation for membership.
