Jasper Newton Daniel was born in 1850 and, at the age of 16, took over the distillery equipment from his neighbor, a pastor who had taught him the craft. In 1905, Jack contracted an illness when he couldn't open his safe and kicked it. The broken toe never healed and ultimately cost him his life in 1911.
