唐代白釉陶土水罐,高 24 cm - 陶器 - 中国 - Tang Dynasty (618-907)
This vessel is a classic example of a white-glazed ewer from the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), a period celebrated as the first "Golden Age" of Chinese ceramics. Often referred to as a zhuhu or zhuzi, these ewers were originally designed as essential tea or wine catering utensils for the elite.
The ewer features the robust, "stout" proportions characteristic of Tang pottery.
It possesses an ovoid (egg-shaped) body that rises from a broad, often unglazed flat foot to a wide, flaring trumpet-shaped neck.
The shoulder is equipped with a short, tapered spout—sometimes described as "conical" or "tubular"—positioned opposite a curved strap handle. Some handles from this period were intricately formed from multiple strands of clay tied together or modeled after sculptural figures like lions.
The vessel is covered in a creamy white or ivory-toned glaze. In many authentic Tang pieces, this glaze ends in a neat line just above the base, exposing the fine-grained white or pale gray clay body underneath. Fine surface crazing (a network of hairline cracks) is a common and expected feature of aged glazes from this era
Weight is 1307 gr.
Height 24cm.
