An impressive and large Qing floor vase, dating to the 19th century, with a very fine painted decoration. It features a classic baluster form with a flared, ruffled rim and is finished in a traditional underglaze cobalt blue on a white porcelain ground. The body is hand-painted with detailed scenes of figures in a landscape, a hallmark of 19th-century Chinese export and domestic porcelain. The central motif depicts scholars or figures engaged in conversation amidst trees and rockwork. The neck is adorned with stylized, applied double handles, often referred to as "lingzhi" or "qilin" handles depending on the specific molding, adding to its architectural presence. The base is finished with a formal petal or cloud-scroll border, while the neck and shoulders feature delicate floral patterns, birds, and supplementary landscape vignettes. The rim of this 19th-century vase shows damage, featuring cracks, restored as depicted on photographs. The vase still displays exceptionally well. Weight is 7kg. Height is 62 cm. Width is 24 cm.
