These "Shinnou" (Prince and Princess), the main characters of the Hinamatsuri (Girls' Festival), are a pair consisting of the Emperor and Empress.
These elegant Hina dolls are characterized by their elegant, gentle expressions and meticulously crafted costumes.
Key Product Features
Male Doll (Lord):
Cloth: He wears a brocade tunic (sokutai) with clouds and traditional patterns woven in gold thread on a noble purple background.
Items: In his right hand he holds a shaku (scepter), a traditional Japanese scepter held during ceremonies.
Head: He wears a crown (kanmuri), the formal attire of a military officer.
Female Doll (Princess):
Cloth: He wears a vibrant, layered junihitoe (twelve-layered kimono) with vermilion and orange as the base color. The gradations of color (kasane) on the cuffs and hem are beautifully expressed.
Items: In her hand, she holds an open, ornately painted hiogi fan.
Head: This figure recreates the osuberakashi hairstyle of Heian period aristocrats, complete with gorgeous gold hair ornaments such as a kanzashi and a comb.
Design Key Points
Face: Rather than the modern-style wide eyes, the face exudes classical beauty, similar to the slender, elegant Kyoto face.
Tailoring: The volume of the costume and the natural wrinkles in the garment reveal the careful handiwork of a skilled artisan.
