发光几何花瓶 — Rōdeisai Ceramic - 陶瓷 - 石原祥嗣 Ishihara Yoshitsugu(1943- ) - 日本 - 1900–2000

Item Description: 石原祥嗣 Ishihara Yoshitsugu(1943- ) — Hanaire (Flower Vase) in Rōdeisai Technique A striking ceramic flower vase created by Ishihara Yoshitsugu, a celebrated contemporary Japanese ceramic artist renowned for his distinctive Ginsaishi (silver-glaze porcelain) technique and geometric patterning. This work, produced at his Ishihara Sho Kiln (石原祥窯) in Fukuoka Prefecture, exemplifies his mastery of layered surface decoration. The vase presents a refined, horizontally-elongated form with a gentle, graceful silhouette. The surface is adorned in the artist's signature Rōdeisai (朧泥彩 / misty-clay glaze painting) style — an evocative, softly-lustrous technique that produces subtle, atmospheric tonal gradations. Delicate, rhythmic geometric motifs — hallmarks of Ishihara's artistic vocabulary — are laid into the glaze, creating a work that bridges traditional Japanese ceramic sensibility with a quietly modern aesthetic. The piece comes with its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako) bearing the artist's inscription, a standard authentication marker of significance to collectors of Japanese fine ceramics. A certificate of the artist's kiln history (tōreki) is also included. Size Height: 20.5 cm Width: 26.5 cm Condition The vase is in good condition with no notable scratches or soiling visible; the accompanying tomobako (original storage box) shows some minor staining. Artist Profile 石原祥嗣 Ishihara Yoshitsugu (1943– ) is a highly regarded Japanese ceramic artist born in Nogata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of Kanazawa College of Art and Craft in 1968, and after years of exploring three-dimensional form in wood and stone, turned to ceramics as a new expressive medium. In 1981, he established his kiln — the Ishihara Sho Kiln — in Nogata (later Miyawaka), Fukuoka. In 1982, he received the prestigious Japan Crafts Association Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, the country's most prominent platform for traditional craft, and became a full member (Seikai-in) of the Japan Crafts Association in 1984. His distinctive technique, Ginsaishi (銀彩瓷), involves multiple rounds of low-temperature refiring over an unglazed high-fired body, alternating overglaze and silver-glaze applications to achieve his characteristic luminous surface. His works, featuring geometric diamond and ancient arc-line (chokomon) patterns, are held in international collections including those acquired by the Japan Foundation. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
