A rare collection of antique potterty beads from Mali. The two strings with the smooth, undecorated, beads have a tubular design and come from excavations in the Niger-delta, where flooding sometimes reval ancient settlements. 17th/18th Cent. Dim.; 4-7 cm. The decorated round and tubulat beads, larger in size come from the Pays Dogon, and were found in burial caves in this region. The round beads are apprx. 33 x 40 mm. The tubular beads are 6 to 9 mm long. Some chipping has ocurred at the ends of these beads. All beads were collected in Mali in the late 1990's.
