This is an authentic fossil trilobite of the genus Hollardops, preserved on a natural rock matrix. Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods that lived exclusively during the Paleozoic Era. The specimen shown belongs to the order Phacopida, a group well known for its evolutionary advanced features. These fossils date back to the Devonian period, approximately 380 million years ago, and are commonly found in Morocco, one of the most important regions worldwide for Devonian trilobites. Specimens of Hollardops are characterized by well-developed compound eyes and a clearly segmented exoskeleton, both visible in this example. The fossil shows good three-dimensional preservation and natural detail.
