Marvelous tea set for 6 persons, produced by Herend - “Rotschild”Collection, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, gilt banding, in excellent to pristine condition. This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree. All pieces are marked with blue Herend shield mark and numbered. The set include one large round tea pot with rose knob lid, one large sugar bowl ( with handles) with rose knob lid, one milk jug and six tea cups with six saucers.
