Zaanse chair clocks come in various sizes, and this is one of the smaller examples. This small Zaanse chair clock is in good condition and shows hardly any signs of use. The clock consists of a backboard with a chair, and on top of it, housed in a wooden case, is the movement. On top of the case is a brass bell with an Atlas figure, surrounded by three brass-colored railings. Only the front railing bears the inscription: “Nu elck sijn sin.” The small window panes on both sides are missing. On either side of the chapter ring are two-tone columns. At the bottom of the chapter ring, which features Roman numerals, the text “Made in Holland” appears. In the four corners around the chapter ring, there is a small angel’s head in each corner. The pendulum hangs in front of the backboard. Specially sized small teardrop-shaped weights hang from brass chains. These weights were once lacquered, and there are now small spots in the lacquer layer. The clock functions well. This lot can be collected in Voorburg.
