A very finely framed pair of French copper plate engravings, portraits of royalty, circa 1830, each set behind glass in gilt wooden frame for an outside size of 36 x 30cm, visible inside size 24 x 18,5cm. The first print, after a painting by Antoine Paillet (1626–1701), depicts a portrait of François Joseph de Lorraine de Guise (1670-1675) who died at the age of 4, the last male descendant in the princely line of Guise Lorraine. The second print depicts Henry IV, King of France and Navarre (1553-1610), first monarch of France from the House of Bourbon, portayed in profile at the age of 21. Condition: Overall very good, no significant damages or repairs. Minor abrasions to the frames, minor wear commensurate with age. Altogether a very presentable set. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
