Description An exceptional Chinese kraak porcelain plate from the Wanli period (1572–1620), Late Ming dynasty. The plate is decorated in remarkably deep and intense underglaze cobalt blue — a tone rarely encountered with such richness and clarity. The central medallion depicts a goose standing on a rock, rendered with expressive brushwork and surrounded by the typical kraak-style paneling. The extraordinary depth of the cobalt blue gives this piece a powerful visual presence and sets it apart from more commonly seen examples. Kraak porcelain of this quality, with such strong and saturated blue tones, is increasingly difficult to find.
