Old Russian Orthodox icon riza (metal cover), made of embossed and punched sheet metal, depicting a multi-figured religious composition with full-figure saints and a central celestial figure in the upper field. Decorated with applied gold-colored halo rays and framed by a richly ornamented border with floral and cloud motifs. Traces of original Cyrillic inscriptions identifying the holy figures are visible. Originally made as a protective and decorative metal cover for a painted icon, the riza represents a traditional example of Russian church metalwork. Believed to date from the 19th century, of confirmed Russian origin.
