Medieval Crusaders era, bronze ring with a broad circular bezel, engraved with a stylised Star of Bethlehem, framed by stylised palm branches. Linear decorations on the tapering shoulders, plain ring band.

-> The palm branch was used by the crusaders of the Holy Land as a symbol of victory of the faithful over the enemies of the soul.

Condition: good and solid condition, wearable. The surface shows an even, aged patina with some areas of earthen encrustations and surface wear, consistent with age and use.

STAR OF BETHLEHEM
Many Christians believe the star was a miraculous sign and it was often claimed that a star fulfilled a prophecy (Star Prophecy). According to the Bible, a bright astronomical object led the Magi from the East to the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. During the centuries the Star of Bethlehem was not consistently shown with five rays. Sometimes it is portrayed as a tailed comet, as a diamond-shaped star, or other variations.

The Star of Bethlehem was a popular symbol to adorn rings, jewellery and amulets of early Christians. It was especially popular during the Crusader period when the faithful Christians undertook military expeditions to expel the Muslims from the Holy Land.

To the present day Christians wear crosses and sacred pendants close to their hearts as tangible signs of their faith and Gods presence in their lives.
