glaucocerinite is a sulfate mineral of aluminum, copper and zinc. It owes its name to the Greek words glaukos (because of color) and kerinos (because of texture and shine).
It is considered a secondary mineral formed by the oxidation of zinc and copper ores
Type Locality: It was first discovered in Lavrio, specifically in the Serpieri mine (Kamariza) in 1932.
Other Locations: Apart from Greece (Lavrio), it has been found in a few other places worldwide, such as Germany, Italy (Sardinia), the USA, Austria and France.
