Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS, and P. Carpenter, WUSL) The studied specimen has an overall protogranular texture and is composed predominantly of highly magnesian mafic silicates (forsterite and enstatite). Forsterite occurs as distributed polycrystalline domains (mean grainsize ~0.5 mm) whereas enstatite is present as separated grains (up to ~3 mm in size) with included grains of forsterite and with distinctive Fe oxide staining (brown in thin section). Accessory phases include intermediate plagioclase, kamacite (altered to Fe oxides), Cr-bearing troilite and schreibersite. Some cross-cutting veinlets of goethite are present. Geochemistry: Enstatite (Fs1.1-1.2Wo0.9-2.0, FeO/MnO = 2, N = 4), forsterite (Fa1.1-1.3, FeO/MnO = 3-4, N = 4), augite (Fs0.5-0.8Wo41.8-42.1, FeO/MnO = 1-2, N = 4), oligoclase (An18.3-23.9Or0.6, N = 3), andesine (An38.1=38.5Or0.2, N = 2).
