Burmese amber comes from the Hukawng Valley in northern Myanmar (formerly Burma) and is much older than most ambers: it dates back to the Cretaceous period, about 99-100 million years ago. Unlike Dominican blue amber, Burmese amber typically exhibits golden-blue tones, floating blue-green hues, or "chameleon" effects, where a blue or blue-green sheen appears on the surface under certain lighting conditions, especially sunlight. These unique colors are reminiscent of the finest opals.
