Item Description This elegant ceramic vase is a work by an unidentified Japanese studio potter, crafted in the tradition of Hagi-ware (Hagiyaki) from Yamaguchi Prefecture. The vase features a beautifully rounded, ovoid body tapering to a cylindrical neck with a wide mouth opening. The surface displays a stunning layered glazing effect characteristic of Hagi-ware's "Gohonde" (御本手) technique — soft peach and blush pink tones at the base gradually transition through creamy off-white to a misty bluish-grey band at the shoulder, evoking the quiet beauty of a Japanese landscape at dusk. The natural firing process has produced delicate iron-spot blooms (hishage) scattered across the surface, adding depth and individuality to the piece. A potter's seal is pressed into the unglazed foot ring, confirming this as a work by a named but currently unidentified studio artist. The artist's name is not known at this time.
