Sleeping Beauty (Walt Disney, 1959) King Stefan Animation Drawing "Fondly had these monarchs dreamed one day their kingdoms to unite." King Stefan and King Hubert have been fast friends for decades and want to unite their kingdoms through the marriage of Hubert's son Phillip and Stefan's daughter Aurora. It appears that their dreams might have come true in this 16 field 3-peghole animation drawing from Sleeping Beauty. The kings were animated by Disney Legends Milt Kahl and John Lounsbery among other Disney animators. Kahl also helped to finalize the characters' designs and animate Prince Phillip and Samson. This graphite with color pencil drawing was created for key moment in the film: about 4:32 when King Hubert greets Stefan at Aurora's christening and establishes the future union of Phillip and Aurora. Numbered in the lower right, the drawing is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.
