Yanagi-kori(柳行李 willow trunks) were originally intended for storing clothing and other items. This is a very elegantly crafted yanagi-kori, a rare piece not often seen. The base is constructed with a wooden frame, reinforced throughout with iron fittings secured by brass nails. The interior of the main body, lid, and base are lined with persimmon-tanned(kakishibu) Japanese paper(washi). It is designed to be locked, but no key is included.
