一幅六扇屏風(屏風)配有鶴、牡丹、藤蔓和季節主題圖案。 - 纸, 金箔 - 日本 - 明治时期(19世纪后期)
A six-panel Byōbu folding screen on paper decorated with six painted panels depicting elements of nature and animals.
Each scene is framed by a gold-leaf ground that enhances the individual compositions.
From left to right:
a Japanese maple (momiji 紅葉) with red autumn leaves; a rooster and a hen (niwatori 鶏) among flowers; a branch of peonies (botan 牡丹) in full bloom; a composition with wisteria (fuji 藤) accompanied by a small bird in flight; a branch of cherry blossom (sakura 桜) with white flowers; and finally a pair of cranes (tsuru 鶴) beside a pine tree (matsu 松).
Each subject carries symbolic meaning in Japanese culture: the peony is associated with prosperity and nobility, wisteria with grace and longevity, and the maple with the beauty of the changing seasons. The rooster and hen evoke vigilance and renewal. The crane, a traditional symbol of long life and good fortune, is depicted here next to the pine (matsu), another emblem of longevity and endurance.
The compositions, isolated within elegant vertical reserves, recall the structure of hanging scroll paintings (kakemono).
The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in good condition, with light wear to the paper and minor color losses consistent with age. The lacquer frame shows light signs of wear. Please refer to the photos for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
