One well-known example is the story of the ninja Jiraiya, who was said to possess magical powers allowing him to transform into a giant toad. The toad is also associated with Gama Sennin, the “Toad Immortal,” inspired by the Chinese alchemist Liu Hai, who was believed to have learned the secrets of immortality from a magical three-legged toad.
