With The Witcher: Mutation, Montegrappa returns to the world of fantasy, combining aesthetics, materials, and presentation to captivate fans of the popular book, game, and television franchise created by the Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher edition is limited to only 200 fountain pens and rollerballs. Mutation is directly inspired by the saga’s main character, Geralt of Rivia. Just like the mutated monster hunter, this edition carries two swords: one for fighting humans and one for slaying monsters. Geralt’s enchanted silver sword forms the clip, while a galvanized brass sword can be used as a letter opener when it is not resting in a sheath on the back of the cap. The Witcher’s battle attire inspires the materials and finishes of the edition. Printed and textured vegan leather is laminated onto the cap and barrel, while antique-finished sterling silver replicates Geralt’s studded armor and wolf medallion. Pearl-grey celluloid is used to craft the grip section and blind cap. Key techniques used in production include lost-wax casting, high-relief engraving, screen printing, and high-frequency texturing. The fountain pens feature Montegrappa’s prestigious piston filling mechanism and a custom 6 mm 18K gold nib, engraved with Geralt’s White Wolf emblem—also the official logo of the show. Nib grades available are EF, F, M, B, and Stub 1.1. The custom-designed packaging follows the same hunter theme as the writing instrument and includes a leather tool roll with replica coins and a pocket for the letter opener and other travel accessories. A wooden presentation case with an inlaid wolf medallion sits inside an inner case decorated with maps of the mystical lands of The Witcher.
