The nakago is engraved with the inscription “Naoyuki” on the front and “Senshu Banzairaku” on the back. Naoyuki was a swordsmith of the Dotanuki school that flourished in the Higo region of Kyushu and was active at the end of the Edo period.  "Senshu Banzairaku” means a celebration of longevity and prosperity, and this dagger set was made as a celebratory gift for good fortune; in 2022, the Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords recognized the hozon and issued a certificate for it as a work worthy of preservation for future generations. The koshirae is equipped with two types of koshirae: shirasaya and tanto koshirae. The tanto koshirae has fine kizami applied to the tsuka and part of the saya. The Saya is lacquered with a textured tame-nuri finish and decorative metal fittings.
