The set includes the kabuto helmet with dragon front crest and kuwagata ornaments, menpo face mask, cuirass, shoulder guards, arm guards, thigh guards, shin guards, and matching footwear. A purple waist cord, wooden armour storage chest, and display stand are also included. The armour features a classic black lacquer finish with vivid red silk lacing, creating a striking and traditional appearance. The kabuto helmet is mounted with large golden kuwagata and an impressive hand-carved wooden dragon crest. Decorative textile linings with traditional motifs are visible inside the armour, adding further detail to the craftsmanship. The dragon crest symbolises power, wisdom, and divine protection in Japanese tradition. Dragons are associated with the heavens and water, and in samurai culture they represent strength, courage, and guardianship. The armour storage chest is made of wood with a black lacquer finish and decorated in maki-e with the Sumi-tate Yotsume Yui family crest. This design belongs to the “Me-yui mon” group derived from traditional shibori tie-dye patterns and consists of four squares arranged in a diamond formation. It was historically used by warrior families connected to the Uda Genji lineage, including the Sasaki, Rokkaku, and Kyogoku clans. The dragon crest shows several cracks, small chips, and areas of wear. The armour overall shows signs of use and age but remains in fair to good vintage condition.
