A decorative set of five horse-head shaped ashtrays, made of bronze with a golden finish. The lot includes two larger sculptural pieces and three smaller ashtrays, all designed in the form of stylised horse heads. The pieces combine decorative sculptural elements with functional use and are suitable both as ashtrays and as decorative desk or table objects. The larger examples show a more detailed sculptural modelling of the horse head and mane, while the smaller ones present a simplified modernist interpretation of the same motif. Such animal-themed ashtrays were popular as decorative objects during the mid-20th century, particularly in European interior design.
