Elegant neoclassic nightstand/coffee table with marble top – Italy, mid-20th century

Elegant lounge table or nightstand with neoclassical taste, made in Italy probably between the 1940s and 1960s of the 20th century. The furniture stands out for the refined combination of materials and for the formal balance typical of decorative tradition inspired by classicism.
The structure is characterized by a linear body supported by four slender, fluted legs, a hallmark of the neoclassical language that recalls the architecture of ancient columns. The legs end with turned feet that give the piece lightness and elegance.
The upper top is made of natural light marble, a material frequently used in fine 20th-century furniture for its durability and for its ability to enhance the underlying wooden structure.
The front is embellished with a central drawer with a veneered or plywood laminated panel, polished, decorated with subtle ornamental threads of classical taste and equipped with two metal handles with decorative plates. This detail enriches the furniture and creates a pleasant contrast with the dark lacquered structure.
