Vintage Large Islamic Calligraphy Black Onyx & Garnet Pendant – Sterling Silver

A striking and substantial pendant featuring a large oval polished black onyx panel finely engraved with elegant Islamic calligraphy, highlighted with gold relief detailing that beautifully contrasts against the deep black stone.

The inscription represents the revered Islamic phrase “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim”, translated as:

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

Known as the Basmala, this phrase appears at the beginning of most chapters of the Qur’an and is traditionally recited before beginning an important act, symbolising blessing, protection, and divine guidance.

The calligraphy is surrounded by delicate floral arabesque motifs, a design language deeply associated with Islamic and Mughal decorative arts, creating a harmonious balance between script and ornament.
