Filippo Piras

• Hand Signed by the Artist
• Preliminary Cover Composition for the Leo Roa Project
• Certificate of Authenticity Included
• Ready to Frame

This powerful original pencil artwork by legendary Argentine master Juan Giménez represents a rare preliminary cover composition created for the Leo Roa adventure universe. Executed entirely in graphite, the drawing captures the early conceptual stage of a book cover, where the narrative structure and the main characters of the story are first brought together in a dynamic visual arrangement.

The composition is rich with movement and storytelling. At the center, the young protagonist struggles to keep his balance while riding a massive dinosaur, establishing the adventurous spirit of the narrative. Around him, smaller prehistoric creatures and imaginative elements reinforce the atmosphere of action and exploration. Above the central scene, two large expressive faces dominate the upper part of the composition, presenting key characters from the story and strengthening the dramatic impact typical of classic comic and illustrated book covers. A flying pterosaur crossing the background adds further depth and motion to the scene.

Created with energetic and confident pencil lines, the piece reveals the artist’s creative process as he builds the visual rhythm of the cover. Structural guidelines, compositional adjustments, and stronger contour lines remain visible, offering collectors a fascinating glimpse into the development of a complex illustration before the final artwork stage.

Preliminary cover artworks by Juan Giménez are particularly valued, as they capture the spontaneous stage of creation where the narrative, composition, and character interaction are first defined. This one-of-a-kind piece represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire an original drawing from one of the most influential artists in modern comic art.
