The piece is notable for its generous scale and exceptional weight — the thick-walled body (approximately 1.2 cm) lends it a commanding, solid presence that speaks to the robust craft traditions of Mino ceramics. The lobed rim (rinbachi) form is elegantly executed, with vivid copper-green glaze (dōryoku-yu) applied to both sides of the vessel in the classic Oribe manner, producing a rich, lustrous depth of color. The natural interplay between the glazed and unglazed areas creates a dynamic and spontaneous visual landscape (keshiki) characteristic of the finest Oribe ware.
