卖家的描述
Cretaceous Petrified Wood – Araucarioxylon – Madagascar
Beautiful slice of petrified wood from Madagascar dating back to the Cretaceous period (approximately 100 million years ago). This specimen represents fossilized conifer wood belonging to the ancient genus Araucarioxylon, related to prehistoric araucarian forests.
Over millions of years, the original wood structure was replaced by minerals through the process of silicification, preserving the internal anatomy of the tree. The specimen shows well-defined growth rings and striking mineral colors ranging from beige and brown to subtle greenish tones caused by trace minerals during fossilization.
The polished surface reveals the internal structure of the fossil tree, making this piece both a scientific specimen and an elegant natural display object.
Origin: Madagascar
Age: Cretaceous (~100 million years)
Material: Petrified wood (silicified fossil wood)
Species: Araucarioxylon
A remarkable collector’s piece illustrating the fossilization process and the ancient forests that once covered Madagascar during the age of dinosaurs.
