Set of Five Chinese Immortal Figures – Hand-Carved Wood – 44–33 cm A finely carved set of five Chinese Immortal figures executed in hardwood, each standing on a naturalistically carved base representing rocks or clouds. The figures are sculpted in expressive poses and display the lively character and symbolic attributes traditionally associated with Daoist immortals. The carvings show excellent craftsmanship with carefully rendered facial expressions, flowing robes, and detailed attributes such as gourds, staffs, and symbolic objects. One figure, carved in darker wood, depicts the well-known immortal Li Tieguai, recognizable by his crutch and gourd, symbols of healing and spiritual power. The other figures represent additional members of the legendary immortals, each portrayed with distinctive gestures and expressions reflecting prosperity, longevity, and good fortune in Chinese tradition.
