A remarkably rare and decorative antique wall barometer with thermometer, featuring a Romanian-language dial and attributed to T. Mann & Co., Bucharest — the maker's name is clearly legible on the dial face. The instrument: The aneroid barometer displays weather indications in Romanian: Furtună (Storm), M·Ploiă (Much Rain), Variabilu (Variable), Fr·Fixu (Fair/Fixed), and M·Secetă (Very Dry) — an exceptionally rare survival of a Romanian-market scientific instrument. The brass bezel and dial are original and intact. The dual-scale thermometer (Réaumur/Celsius) is mounted alongside and remains functional. The frame: Elaborately hand-carved solid walnut in the Black Forest hunting style, featuring a spread eagle, a sculpted wild boar or bear head in high relief, crossed hunting rifles, acorns, and deeply carved oak leaves. The carving quality is exceptional throughout, with no significant losses or repairs visible. Verso: Original maker's stamp/serial number impressed into the wood backing.
