茶壶和杯子 - 陶器 - Bizen Yaki Ware - 日本 - Meiji period (1868-1912)

Bizen Ware Tea Set (Teapot and Two Cups) Japan, Meiji–Taishō period (late 19th – early 20th century) A small Bizen ware (備前焼) tea set comprising a kyūsu teapot and two sencha cups. The pieces are made in the characteristic Bizen stoneware tradition and display a rugged “iwa-hada” (rock-surface) texture, giving the surface an appearance reminiscent of natural stone. The firing has produced attractive reddish-brown and dark tones, typical of Bizen pottery and evocative of the natural ash effects achieved in traditional wood-fired kilns. Bizen ware is one of Japan’s oldest ceramic traditions, celebrated for its unglazed surfaces and subtle variations created during the firing process. Tea utensils in this style are appreciated for their rustic aesthetic and strong connection to the Japanese tea culture. Dimensions: Teapot: width 8.5 cm; 13 cm from handle to spout; height 6.8 cm Cups: diameter 7.3 cm; height 4.6 cm Condition: General wear consistent with age and use. Please examine the images carefully. Small imperfections and kiln-related flaws are not always described in detail. The written condition report is indicative only; the photographs provide the definitive and binding description of the item’s condition. Shipping: The items will be securely packaged and shipped with insurance. Stand not included.
