The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 A striking Japanese ceramic Noh mask from the Showa period (1926–1989), depicting “Obeshimi” (Oobeshimi), a fierce character used in traditional Noh theatre to represent demons, tengu, or supernatural guardians. The mask features an intense and powerful expression, with wide glaring eyes and a tightly clenched mouth, conveying tension, intimidation, and spiritual force. Such masks were used in classical performances to embody otherworldly beings and evoke fear, authority, and protection. A circular maker’s mark is impressed on the underside near the chin. The piece has a substantial weight of over 1 kg, giving it a strong presence, suitable as a wall-mounted object or interior display. Condition is fair to good vintage condition. There is noticeable paint loss, scratches, small cracks, and minor chips throughout. Stains and age-related wear are visible. The original cord is missing and has been replaced with wire.
