A set of four faience creamware rebus plates, each measuring circa 20,3cm in diameter and together weighing 1072, each with a different transfer décor depicting a rebus, a difficult pictorial riddle which when solved reveals a wise saying. Marked to the underside with impressed P&H maker´s mark of Paillart & Hautin, Choisy le Roi, a mark used from 1824-1836. Condition: Some discoloration with age, normal wear commensurate with age and use, one with minimal chip, otherwise good. See pictures for a better overall impression.
