悬挂锅钩,带鲤鱼和锅钩 - 榉木,纤维绳,铸铁 - 日本 - Taishō period (1912-1926)
A great solid wooden Ebisu jizai 自在 (pot hook), complete with jizai-kagi 自在鉤 (hanging pothook).
The jizai is called that way after the shape of Ebisu’s hat. Ebisu 恵比須 is the Japanese god of fishermen and luck, one of the Seven gods of Fortune 七福神 (Shichifukujin). The jizai is complete with its original rope rings.
The jizai-kagi is shaped like a carp koi with finely hand-carved details, suspended from a sturdy fiber rope, with an iron hook at the bottom.
Both are crafted from solid precious Keyaki wood (Zelkova - "Japanese oak") in a dark brown hue with a lively wood grain.
These devices enabled a pot nabe 鍋 or tea kettle tetsubin 鉄瓶 to be suspended over a sunken hearth to an adjustable height.
