A Pair of Large high-quality Antique wooden gilded Kuge供笥/供花 with inscribed tomobako, made in 1920(Taisho-9)Taisho period. The tomobako clearly states 大正九年十二月that it was made in December of the ninth year of the Taisho period. It is a Buddhist altar item unique to the Jodo Shinshu sect, and is a plate-like item used to place offerings such as mochi, fruit, and rakugan (dried sweets) at the Buddhist altar.
